Kenya: New Water Well in Roo

As Father Philip Olage, headteacher in Roo, has reported, the well at Bishop Mugendi School has silted up. Despite repeated repairs, the well, which dates from 1986, could no longer be brought back into use. As this is a semi-arid region, it is very difficult to obtain water. In the meantime, the pupils have had to fetch water from a lake 1.5 kilometres away.

As our association continues to support Bishop Mugendi School, the ‘new water well’ project was launched. Extensive fundraising campaigns at the Marist schools in Germany, together with further donations, raised a substantial sum within a short space of time. As a result, a sum of €10,000 was made available for the well drilling, and the new well was put into operation, which will reliably supply the school with drinking water for years to come.

The pupils at Bishop Mugendi School would like to express their heartfelt thanks for the support!
