South Africa: Lessons for refugee children

The “Three2Six Project” offers a bridging program for hundreds of refugee children at Sacred Heart College in Johannesburg. Three schools make their facilities available every afternoon from 3 – 6 pm. This is also where the project got its name “Three2Six”.

The issue of migration is also a major challenge for South Africa. Many refugees and asylum seekers come from neighboring countries. Thus, it was necessary to take in refugee children through this project and prepare them to attend a state school. The “Three2Six” project offers mathematics, english and life skills courses. Learners receive textbooks, school supplies, one meal per day and, where necessary, safe transportation to and from school.

Sacred Heart College is a Marist Catholic school that follows the principles of compassion, justice, dignity and respect of its founder, St. Marcellin Champagnat. The “Three2Six” project was founded in 2008 and has provided basic education to hundreds of disadvantaged children.

Our team has supported the project with a total amount of €49,000 from 2015 – 2020.

We sincerely thank all donors with a big “Vergelt’s Gott”!
