Argentina: Cacique Francisco Supaz School Project

The Cacique Francisco Supaz Wichí School in Misión Nueva Pompeya was founded in 1994 in collaboration with the indigenous community and the Marists. Today, it is largely managed and supported by qualified Wichí. With support from our project, the daily provision of meals for the students has been sustainably secured. The school kitchen was upgraded, vegetable gardens were expanded and equipped with irrigation systems, and a chicken coop and a baking workshop were set up. As a result, the children receive regular, healthy, and nutritious meals. Another important step was the establishment of a school cooperative. To this end, a building across from the school was purchased and converted into a sales and storage space. The school can now purchase food and goods in larger quantities at lower prices and supply both its own needs and those of families in the community at fair prices.

With funding of 43,000 euros, a project was implemented that improves food security, creates job opportunities for parents, strengthens the school’s self-sufficiency, and sustainably promotes solidarity and cohesion within the Wichí community.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all donors whose generous support made the implementation of this project possible.
