During the final week of the last school year, a premiere took place at the Maristen-Gymnasium Furth: the first-ever “Maristathlon”! Students – and even a few teachers – completed lap after lap around the school building, though not without tackling various challenges along the way. At different stations, participants had to demonstrate skill and accuracy – whether by shooting a bow and arrow, scoring baskets, or transporting water from one bucket to another using a sponge.
The event raised an impressive total of 3,400 euros. Classes 6b and 5c were particularly diligent, taking the top spots with 110 and 109 laps completed, respectively. Congratulations on this fantastic achievement – well done!
An additional 400 euros was raised during “Marist Week.” The Marist team presented a fundraising project by the organization Marist Solidarity International and coordinated various activities, including a bake sale, to further increase the total.
The funds have now been officially handed over: Marist Solidarity International has received a total of 3,800 euros. This contribution will support the construction of a Marist primary school in Talit, West Bengal. The area is home to the Santal – an indigenous people in India whose children often struggle to access an adequate education due to a lack of state support. The Marist Brothers have been working on the ground there since 2024. During this period, they were able to provide 100 women with vocational training in tailoring. Furthermore, more than 180 children acquired reading, writing, and arithmetic skills, thereby breaking the cycle of educational disadvantage. The Marist Brothers now require a total of 367,000 euros for the construction of the primary school. MSI has already been able to contribute 75,000 euros toward this goal, and now, the funds so diligently raised through the “Maristathlon” are being added to this total.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the runners whose efforts made this magnificent result possible. We also express our gratitude to all the parents, grandparents, acquaintances, and other supporters who so generously rewarded the laps run with their donations.
