After four years, it was time for Brother Bernhard Tremmel to take his home leave and recharge his batteries. He visited his family and friends in the Pfalz and the Marist monastery in Furth. During a meeting with the Marist Solidarity International board at the Marist monastery, Brother Bernhard enthusiastically recounted his life and work in Cambodia. Brother Bernhard has been working for the Marists since his youth, first in active service in education, then as a trainer for young members of the order in Germany, Ireland, and Zimbabwe and has thus arrived in Cambodia via many stages. He has now been working there as a missionary for 17 years. During this time, Brother Bernhard has created and established many projects in Sen Monorom, Bousra, and Pailin, among other places. The main projects in Pailin are the Marist Education Center (school) for almost 200 children and young people and the Marist Center of Hope (boarding school), which can accommodate 60 students who would otherwise not be able to attend school.
We wish Brother Bernhard and his team God’s blessing and continued success in everything he has started and still wants to develop. Until we meet again – on his next home leave in four years.
